As you get to Wetherby you’ll need to be in the car park down by the river, the entrance is at the mini roundabout at the north end of the bridge.
Head to the far end of the car park, there is a small BBQ area, go through here and follow the path along the River Wharfe on your right side. to the left are some rather large rocks. We went after a heavy down pour of rain, as you can see below it was a tad muddy! Best go on a sunny day!
Keep walking along the river after passing under the A1, some rather nice looking houses down her – when I win the lottery!!! At the end of the field there is a gate, take the track left up to the water treatment works.
Follow this round till you meet another track (road) at the works enterance. Left here and up a small incline. At the top there is a folk in the road, here you take a sharp right across the fields (below).
You soon come to a woody slope and a stile that takes you to Flint Mill Grange. Here take the farm access road to the left. (Big tree above) hope it’s still there! Follow this road, it takes you to Wilton Road, do a left then a right through a gate into Wetherby Race Course. Follow the road until it meets the old railway line, Fenton to Harrogate Line which last saw a train in 1964.
Once onto the old line its straight all the way to Wetherby. Go under the A1 and you come to Freemans Way, go to the end and turn left into Hallfield Lane. Walk up this road with schools on your right till you come to Two Churches (pic below). Follow the road round and continue on till you reach Morrisons on the right, keep going past M&S on the left and up past the pub (which is now Sant Angelo Italian Restaurant) to the main road. this could be a good time for that pint! Turn left on the main road
Down this road takes you back to the mini round about and the main car park and your car.
