Once you reach Bardsey head for the Bingley arms and park up, this will be quite handy when you finish the walk and are in need of refreshment. From there head down through the village passing the church and head towards the A58. Turn right at the A58 and walk down looking for the footpath on the left.
The footpath will take you along Bardsey Beck. You will be able to follow the edge of the fields, the fields follow the Beck round to the right, follow it round and down towards the ancient Roman site of Pompocali. Here you will cross another footpath, go through the gate and a few yards further to the left Pompocali will be marked.
Follow the path unto the site, spare a few moments to explore. You follow past the earth works and down the far side where, depending on the weather, it gets muddy.
Plow on through the mud passing some old buildings to your left.
Go down and under the Rail bridge, follow it round passing behind Jacob Aquaculture to your left.
You will then keep right then left back down to the A58 through the old Gate Stones. Cross the road and head up the lane marked as a dead end. At the end of the lane the footpath takes you back gently down to Bardsey, you’ll be able to see the church in the distance. The path will take you through the Church Yard.
Check out the church, then head back up the road towards the Pub and that well earned drink and perhaps a sarnie?
