The village is situated about 17miles north west of Leeds in the county of West Yorkshire in northern England. The land to the south slopes up to Rombald’s Moor and to north lies the peak of Beamsley Beacon with the valley of Wharfedale to the west of it going north west into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As you come into addingham (see map) there is a lay-by, or park on North street. Walk back along the road and take the stone steps down to the right. signed Dales Way, Cross the river over the suspension bridge.

Follow the path along the field edge. cross the stream to join a metallede track between the walls that will emerge on a minor road by a sharp bend, go right walk along the road to Nestfield.

You can follow the road all the way down towards Ilkley. passing the golf club house to your left. to reach Ilkley’s stone bridge. cross the bridge, you could have a quick shifty into Ilkley if you wish.

Once over the bridge turn right following the riverside path passing Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club. opposite the club house take the footpath to the left through a kissing gate crossing pasture land.

You have a few more kissing gates to negotiate before you are back by the River Wharfe again. Cross the stream by the little footbridge and enter wooded land. cross another stream to meet a stony track, go down hill to meet the river, through a kissing gate you follow a grassy path before joining the old A65 road.

Follow the road by the river side and as you reach a row of terraced houses turn onto Old Lane. Pass between the houses to locate the riverside path at the far side. Once you have passed the Rectory on the left and the Old Rectory on your right you can either stick to the road following it back round to where you parkes or go through the kissing gate descending towards the church, across the pasture to a path between the houses across a small bridge to reach North Stree and back to your car.
